grr
I apparently have some sort of (what other people think is) facinating medical condition with my knee joints. At least, every time this happens and I try and explain it, no one can relate, so I guess I’m the only person afflicted with this in the known universe.

If I’m sitting in a swivel chair, with my feet firmly planted on the ground, and rotate to the left or right without moving my feet - my knee joint becomes *unhinged* from my lower leg. Twisting to the left does this to my right leg, and twisting to the right to my left leg. It doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, it brings along a sensation of instant and excruciating pain - and the only way I can “re-hinge” everything back together is to KICK my leg out straight and fast. This kicking usually happens without any concious thought of my own, it’s just a reflex to get my legs put back together.

It used to happen more frequently, sometimes just the way my legs were relaxed - the weight of my own leg would cause it to happen. That doesn’t happen so much now, as I just kind of subconciously sit so it won’t.

Anyway. This has been a “real” problem three times in my life - today being the third.

1st time: English final, high school 1992, 10th grade.
Right leg pops out of joint during final. I scream and kick leg, causing chair/desk one piece to hop up and down. Real cool looking, I’m sure.

2nd time: Lunch with workmates at ISP, 1999.
Popped out of joint while eating some panang curry - legs instinctively kicks - into the shin of friend sitting across from me. I apologize profusely and tell him I really didn’t mean to “do that.” He tries not to cry. Things are awkward for some time to come.

3rd time: 20 minutes ago
Swiveled chair to the left. Right knee slips. I kick. Nothing happens. Kick kick kick kick fall to floor kick kick kick AAAHhhHhhhhh fixed. As I fell to the floor, my hand smashed through a sentimentally valuable neon sign that I have been meaning to hang up for awhile. Utterly destroyed. All that glass breakage and kicking took place within about 5 seconds or so. Now my leg is killing me, my hand is bleeding, my priceless (to me) neon sign is forever gone, and I have a bunch of shit to cleanup.

Today can suck it.

gah, i have a similar weird thing in my neck where if i yawn when my head is turned, i get a terrible knot in the muscles under my chin. so i'll be sitting there, have a tiny little yawn that I don't notice, and then be in terrible pain, clawing at my own neck, not able to open my mouth and yell about it.

worst part is, i can't explain it while it's happening. i think we just have to accept that humans have bugs that are still not fixed. sorry 'bout your sign, man.
5th-May-2005 05:26 pm (UTC) - I know what you are going through
This happens to my elbows. I have to shoot my arm out quickly to rehinge it - usually looks like I am practicing in case Hitler ever walks into the room...

Omg that sucks. O_o; But yeah I've never heard anyone else with that problem. It happens to my jaw sometimes though? I have to grab it and shove it back into place. Fun times.

Ouch. Sorry about your sign.
13th-May-2005 07:54 pm (UTC) - Racist and Slanderous pages in LJ
I made a complaint about a user who is making accustations about other LJ users being pedophiles, I asked that it be looked into and well it was not.

I got a sorry its not our problem reply, well I am sorry but it is YOUR problem how would you like it if you ahd some jerk telling foilks you are a pedophile, Please deal with it here is the users name 0____pedophiles

This could leave the whole LJ staff liable to third party law suits as you are allowling Slander, Deformation of Character, Liable, Breaches of Data Protection (under DPA laws you are resposable to ensure that users data is NOT MISSUSED), this could blow up and come back on people and ruin thier lives, so get off the fence and deal with the problem Please.

I don't know what motivates people to comment to my personal journal with this sewage. There are proper channels for this kind of thing, both at LiveJournal, and with *real* law authorities. You seem to be throwing a bunch of legal threats around, so I'm sure you must be knowledgable on the subject, and can pretend to be a grown up long enough to file a lawsuit against the individual in question.

Heck, report LiveJournal too for not being the "internet police" you seem to want them to be. I'm sure there aren't any priors on stuff in this realm, with the internet being all new and stuff.

I'm going to call you a bad name!!! PLEASE DON'T TELL MY ISP THEY'LL ARREST ME AND WORSE SHUT OFF MY ACCOUNT AAIIIEEEEE

Grow up.

Seriously, what on earth do you hope to accomplish by polluting my journal with this garbage?

This actually goes for a lot of other random comments that I don't bother unscreening. If people can use enough brainpower to follow the breadcrumbs to my journal and post, you certainly can figure out how to ask LiveJournal support how to "fix the colors on your journal" or whatever your current problem of the day is.

No offense intended, but just because I work here doesn't mean I care to get work questions in my 'personal space'. Please. Go away.

And as for you, ken_fox, I'm sorry that being called a pedophile is ruining your life. I'll take the proper steps immediately to make sure no one ever calls you a dirty name again on the internet, or any communication medium.

Ass hat.

You should totally sue him for calling you a fence-sitter.

I have a similar problem...you are not alone, if that is any comfort at all to you.

My doctor said it has to do with how "relaxed" the tendons around the knee are, and told me some people can "disjoint" their knees by simply pushing on them. Fun, huh?

Yuck!

Hooray for tight tendons. :|

On the other hand, I can really freak out my husband by sliding my kneecaps around freely, so it's almost worth it. :-P
